Should anterior segment mesenchyme be added to the AO? The anterior segment mesenchyme derives from the periocular mesenchyme (POM) and gives rise to some components of the anterior segment (AS).
Anterior segment mesenchyme is described and characterized in 3 publications (PubMed IDs 32528955, 36563566, 37024546) from the Famulski lab:
Van Der Meulen, K.L., Vöcking, O., Weaver, M.L., Meshram, N.N., Famulski, J.K. Maybe. Anterior segment mesenchyme would develop from periocular mesenchyme. POC should have relationship with some cranial nnc if we make the ASM term so we can have development tree. Def from ZDB-PUB-230407-53 ASM is composed of POM cells which have committed to the AS fate and migrated to the AS space.
