In order to ablate specific cell types, researchers use Tg lines expressing NTR in the cells they want to ablate, and treat the fish with MTZ. At this point, we curate this using ZECO: chemical ablation
In PUB-160706-11, the authors used a Tg expressing a photosensitive KillerRed. Light exposure is use to induce cell ablation. In this paper, the authors used the term "optogenetically ablation".
I am proposing the addition of the following terms to indicate the genetic component of the ablation:
optogenetical ablation [child of "light ablation"]
chemicogenetical ablation [child of "chemical ablation"]
These terms would indicate that the ablation experiment includes a genetic component, which would make our annotations more specific to the researcher (and make the distinction between general chemical ablation, and specific chemical ablation).
[I understand that adding these terms would mean doing some data cleanup, which I am volunteering to take care of]
Before creating these terms (or choosing to not create them), there should be a discussion about whether or not we should impose a requirement of a having a Tg Line with the use of these terms.
this is something that we cannot do at this time and would require a lot of developmental work
I personally don't think it would be necessary. Not having this check in place might induce some erroneous use, but I think the gain outweigh the risks. (my 2 cents)
