Lazy Loading Duplicate Images

If you lazyload duplicates of the same image -

And then check the Network tab in chrome dev tools, you will see each of those images are loaded separately, rather than using the browser cache. It has already loaded once, so should not need to load again. This is increasing page weight significantly.

Please let me know if I am missing something that can help with this.
