Obstacle avoidance during navigation

Hello, I managed to get the mapping and navigation to work. But it appears the obstacle avoidance does not work during the navigation process. I understand that in another discussion you stated that the obstacle avoidance module will not work. My question is:

1. Is there a work around to make the obstacle avoidance to work during navigation?
2. If not, are there any plans to implement this feature in the future?
