From email to Andy Deans from Adam Kranz: "Areola is Gagne's term as well. It's obvious looking at the top of eg C tuberidolium. The round areola and the nipple in the center (which you already have a separate term for). They do sometimes protrude, as in C leviglobus. I guess you could just call it an apical ring or something?"
Areola is assigned already to lots of terms. Could be listed as a synonym for a different preferred term? Currently using papillary:
A quality inhering in a bearer by virtue of the bearer's resembling small nipple like projection.
