"Extra" arxiv bibcodes not being deleted: direct ingest makes bibcodes, but classic may not in some cases #163

If a new arXiv record appears in the daily bundle with a DOI or Citation to an existing published record included in the Arxiv record, they appear to go into Classic as a linked article, but the bibcode never appears in the canonical list. In this case, Master isn't getting the message that it needs to delete the arXiv bibcode that gets created via direct ingest, and the arxiv bibcode remains in the Solr canonical list as a separate entry even though the published record has a link to the arXiv preprint.

Example: 2021arXiv210700015S

  • If you search for "2021arXiv210700015S" or "arxiv:2107.00015", you get two results back: the arxiv preprint, and the published paper 2021AJ....162...30S
  • If you search for 2021AJ....162...30S, you only get the 2021AJ result.

In this example, the 2021AJ record was ingested with the weekend astronomy update ending 2021-06-28. The 2021arXiv record was submitted to arXiv on 2021-06-30, and ingested 2021-07-01/02.
