Contribution Inquiry: Adding Online/Offline Sessions Records and Metrics

I am considering contributing to the Keycloak Metrics SPI project, and I plan to add a feature similar to https://github.com/aerogear/keycloak-metrics-spi/pull/74 and "Add online and offline sessions metrics." However, I noticed that some pull requests related to the same topic from 2020 have not yet been merged. I would like to know if this is a suitable time to contribute on this matter.

I respect the current state and priorities of the project. I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how I can contribute in the most effective way during this process.
