Has anyone explored expanding the note editor to have WYSIWYG functionality? I think the ability to use HTML in the notes would be great.

there was a previous feature request for using markdown at #48

I just checked out showdown.js that was referened. Something like that would be nice, but what about the users who don't want to learn the syntax? Maybe we could have a few buttons for bold, list, etc. that put the markdown in the text for them.

This plugin supports something like this, have a look here: http://pagedown.googlecode.com/hg/demo/browser/demo.html

I'm currently try to get that running.

Loaded the latest commit. I pasted the showdown.js sample text in a note and it doesn't appear to be working as intended. I'm sure you're probably still working on it. The fact that all the note text is grey might interfere with the highlighting, etc.

I will use showdown directly and another editor: http://markitup.jaysalvat.com/home/

It must be enabled in the settings to get the markdown support!

looks good! the syntax highlighting isn't working with the showdown.js example, but I don't think that's a big deal. I consider this one fixed.
