What package is missing from Amazon Linux 2023? Please describe and include package name.
Alien - converting packages for cross platform (e.g. deb to rpm)

Is this an update to existing package or new package request?
New package request

Is this package available in Amazon Linux 2? If it is available via external sources such as EPEL, please specify.
No, not on AL2. Looks like Fedora EPEL8, so might not be applicable. https://packages.fedoraproject.org/pkgs/alien/alien/epel-8.html. Source code from https://sourceforge.net/projects/alien-pkg-convert/.

Any additional information you'd like to include. (use-cases, etc)
I can download source, build, and compile. However, it's better to install via package manager (dnf) from trustworthy upstream source; especially, for prod usage.

Out of interest, what's the use case here?

@stewartsmith it's to bootstrap the conversion of deb packages to rpm. I didn't know how long this feature request would take, so I wrote some code to handle the conversion (ar xv deb package, tar control/data, etc). With alien, it saves like 30-40 lines of code... so maybe not really worth it at all now thinking about it. Closing request
