Hi, I spent the night setting the script up, and after encountering a some issues (I found answers here, no worries) I got it running. So I tried to understand the limitations of my GPU and its impact on the files size/format,...

Here are the results of the test, but tl;dr :

  • it seems that we can imagine a limitation with the sum of pixels used in both the source and the style, wich is interesting, as now I should be able to combine large file with smaller ones, as long as the total of pixels is not too high...
  • grayscale pictures seems not to be supported (but desaturated pictures should be fine, as long as they were not saved in grayscale color mode)
  • Running the script in a graphical environment or in a TTY don't get the expected results : it seems really quicker in the graphical env (KDE 5 for me).

If other people do that kind of tests with other GPUs, i'll be interested to create a list of limits

The comments are open on the spreadsheet, so if you're interested to speak of the results, i'll be happy to exchange some things.

[Edit] I updated the spreadsheet: the first tab should list the different max resolutions for graphical cards; the tests are on the second tab.
