Since everyone I asked uses Google to find recipes it is critical to have the pages optimized for search engines.

My first idea is to have language-dependent and content dependent title, meta and description tags in html, but I'm sure there are many other things to be done.

Desszert.eu makes a brilliant job on this front. They generate the tags dynamically which shows up in Google search results:
