engine sim performing very bad on 2+ cylinders #111
Comments
Can confirm, but I only get performance issue when there are more than 1 cylinder on a bank. I tried to create multiple cylinder banks with only 1 cylinder per bank and it works just fine. Maybe has something to do with multiple layers (the transparent pistons, con-rod behind the first cylinder) ? |
Idk if you are right or not because it is running smoothly now. 100+ fps on an engine with 6 cylinders in a single bank without any jerking or lagging. I don't know how I fixed it but it probably has something to do with your apps running in the background or because your power plan setting was set to power saving mode. |
What I've found when trying to build a radial engine was that the number of
exhausts has a massive impact. In my first attempt, I created one exhaust
per cylinder (7 total), which ran _very_ badly, with seconds-long lag and a
lot of jagging. I then reduced that down to only two exhausts and suddenly
everything ran super smooth on my machine.

I run R7 5800X3D + RX 6800 XT. |
Either way, a 2600X is quite weak in today's quickly changing CPU game, you don't even have the X version. No offense, it isn't that bad but perhaps for these kinds of workloads it just shits itself :) |
I'm running with:
RX 560
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core Processor
I tried lowering the frequency of the simulation and yet it still lags and jerks like crazy.
The latency for some reason keeps doing a spiking and then dropping every second
I tried every engine in the engines folder and every engine except the Kohler does the same thing
Is it because my PC specs aren't good enough to run the program or what?
