I am using iOS 11.4 and have pushed the full ARKitImageRecognition up to my 6s. (not the starter project). The AR /Camera screen is not updating on its own. It will pull in an image if I press the refresh button at the bottom but then stays locked on that image. If I press the refresh button over and over again, the AR /Camera screen will update like normal but does not have enough time to scan the image and look for the 2D detection. From your full demo it seemed as if the AR /Camera screen was updating in realtime as you moved the screen around. Am I doing something wrong ?

If I add any image to the Assets.xcassets -> AR Resources file it freezes the camera.
