Should we consider adding or using the 3 letter EUCAST codes for drug names to the ARO ?

see tseemann/abricate#105

We've been meaning to incorporate these and we could give them a unique flag in the CARD json so they are easy to extract.

Thank you for developing and maintaining CARD, it is an excellent resource. Adding standard abbreviations would be a really interesting improvement. It would facilitate machine processing of the data. Please consider it.

I've now learnt that EU and US use different abbreviations?
EUCAST vs CLIA .... in AU I think we generally follow EUCAST

Apologies, addressing this was pandemic delayed. We have made our first baby steps towards this with CARD Short Names, see #25. These use https://journals.asm.org/journal/aac/abbreviations. We are now working towards supporting both the EUCAST, CLIA/CLSI, and ACC abbreviations on the CARD website, in ARO, and in CARD's various download files. We'll post progress and snapshots here as we do.
