I have used some hand-made "logo" at presentation already (page 56 [1]),
but it would be nice to redraw it to vector graphics to enable better manipulation.

I don't oppose to any more crazy ideas. :-)

The story around Graphene:

Graphene - an allotrope of carbon, whose structure is one-atom-thick planar sheets of sp2-bonded carbon atoms that are densely packed in a honeycomb crystal lattice; most easily visualized as an atomic-scale chicken wire made of carbon atoms and their bonds.

Why it fits Graphene: it is stronger and stiffer than diamond, yet can be stretched by a quarter of its length, like rubber. Its surface area is the largest known for its weight. So you could say it's "strong and flexible", which captures the essence of the strongly-typed locator API.

Why it fits in our theme: A potential application of graphene in sci-fi is a protective skin for a spaceship. Since Graphene is a compliment to Drone / Selenium, this fits perfectly with our existing theme. We show the Drone vessel with a layer of graphene on it to indicate you are using the two together.

Option 1: Flat hexagon
Option 2: Perspective hexagon
Option 3: Abstract hexagon cascade
Option 4: Hexagon shield
Option 5: Rough mock up of hexagon grid. Select hexagons are filled in to spell graphene. The grid could also be stretched or curved to give the impression it is curving through space or coming toward the viewer
Option 6: Graphene written in hexagons
Option 7. Hexagon grid superimposed on the text

The color choices are not fixed.
Concerning proportions: I reallized I suck at drawing free hand hexagrams so the proportions and perspectives of these sketchs are far from perfect. When I recreate the chosen option digitally the measurements and perspectives will be corrected.

Hey Sarah, great work!

I like the graphical layouts, especially opt. 2 & 3 - it could make good connection with textual artwork like 6.

The shield 4 makes great story, but I'm not sure people will recognize it's a shield made from graphene.

Hi Sarah, awesome graphics.

I really like the shield 4 and good-old-days "pixelized" (hexagonized) text layout in option 6. Maybe these could be combined together?

Option 2 - That perspective is killer. :)

  1. and 7) with some nice effects as a big log/banner, probably with the Drone project logo #2 embeded somewhere

Hi Sarah,

could you pick up the option (2)? Seems like most favourite one. :-)

Could it be connected with some of the textual graphics like 6 or 7?

I'm thinking how this can be connected to Drone/Ike graphics:
Ike could bring the graphene moleculs as his gear on the belt, he could install it on Drone, which will then deploy it to browser.

Great! I'll work on option 2 (perspective structure) and connect it with 6 and 7. Six and 7 require the same base vector layers so it should be pretty easy for me to do both of those at the same time.

For Graphene + Drone, I'll see what it looks like to install/embed the molecule on Drone and I'll also see if I can 'skin' drone in the hexagon sheet (like the word Graphene is skinned in option 7). I'll also come up with some options for incorporating the molecule into Ike's gear.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys!

Hey Sarah, was you able to get back to the logos?

Graphene would desperately need one. :-)
