Hi,

the gulp-sprite plugin is actually deprecated you should use css-sprite. Support for svg isn't planned for either css-sprite nor gulp-sprite because it would need to implement a whole new engine handling the svg stuff. You could have a look at svg-sprite but unfortunately at the moment there seems to be no gulp plugin.
