It's never been possible to actually delete an account.

It could result in really bad issues if the user was to be hacked.

I don't suggest you implement this feature. Just my thoughts.

we could do this in an optional way, and allow to enable/disable this feature.
the GDPR wants that the user has his data and can remove them from the server, I think it's legit and moreover a user in my server requested exactly this

Alternatively lock the account and obfuscate the data. I too believe the risk of severe server damage if hacked is too high for this to be implemented. Using same website/forum name as account login is one thing, but deletion of it if having the access to it is probably way worse.

Also, I don't think GDPR for a WoW emulation server is something worth spending energy at, since it can never legally be connected to an organisation
