Component is inheriting from another class, How do I make sure it's being added?

When I try to render my component and it gets to the line where it binds, it throws a NullReferenceException. I've trying injecting this component as a service and I can't seem to find anything about this anywhere. Any idea where I could be going wrong?

I figured it out. Couldn't understand how to add the ViewModel as an argument but finally saw it was supposed to be done like this:

Services.AddServices();
var myViewModel = new ViewModel();

var cut = RenderComponent<MainView>(("ViewModel", myViewModel ));

I had been looking at that before but still not understanding how that works. Not really a software developer so a lot of this goes over my head.

Following your example, do the following to pass a parameter:

var cut = RenderComponent<MainView>(parameters => parameters.Add(p => p.ViewModel, myViewModel));
