iOS App not available #82

For now, could you just use the web version
<http://bbloomf.github.io/jgabc/propers>? It's been difficult for me to
keep the app version up to date.

I just got a new phone, and unfortunately, Chant Tools were not
downloaded, and it has been removed from (our) App Store. Is it just in EU,
or is there some other problem?
Anyway, thanks for your work, your app is helping choralists all around
the world.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I'll be using the online app. It works everywhere, apart from the almost literal catacombs, where we at times also serve on the TLM. So the app might return to App Store in the future? |
I've been thinking of making it into a progressive web app, which wouldn't
appear in the app store, but would be able to have a link made to it on the
homescreen and work offline. And that should be easier to keep up to date
with the web version.

Dear Benjamin,
How are you?
I think there is an even simpler way to make the “GABC Transcription Tool”
work on a smartphone, by using the browser from the source code through the
local network. You just need to install an application called “Http Server”
(I don’t know if it exists for iPhone, but for Android, yes).
It’s exactly like using the local network of the computer through Python.
I hope you can continue updating “Source and Summit” a bit, adding cache
saving (for application settings, to avoid reconfiguring each time the
browser is closed and opened); and using personal fonts.
May God bless you.
In union of prayer.
F
Clement

Well, that would be a great idea before the EU idiots introduced a duty to support multiple browsers and Apple removed the PWA support. I don't know, whether this is only in the EU or worldwide, but still, this unfortunately wouldn't be a solution for quite a lot of people, me included.... |
I had not heard of Apple removing PWA support, and I looked it up, and
perhaps they have reversed that decision:
https://mashable.com/article/apple-reverses-decision-home-screen-web-apps-pwa-eu#:~:text=Apple%20has%20announced%20that%20it's,apps%20on%20iOS%20going%20forward
.
Anyway, we'll see when I get around to actually implementing it. I still
have to finish getting some canticles in for someone who asked for them a
few weeks ago.

Very good, I didn't know about that reversal. In that case whatever works better for you, for me, both variants are fine. |
