I really don't know if this is worth considering, and it's way too early in any case. But it could be one approach to the extensibility question?
Here's a rust lisp, for example, that the helix editor is considering to use for plugins (they have settled on a rust-based lisp; just not yet on which one).
EDIT: there's a fuller explanation of why the helix folks settled on scheme (there is now a draft PR for using Steel, though designed in a way that it doesn't depend on Steel), which may well also be relevant for us if feel we should need it at some point.
