Surface connection state Variable

Is this a feature relevant to companion itself, and not a module?

Describe the feature

Tried to use variables to show the connection of a satellite machine/surface but find that as soon as it disconnects all of the variables related to that surface disappear and can't be used for feedback. I can see on the surface tab that the surface shows up as disconnected when the connection disconnects.

It would be good to have some internal variable related to the surface tab that could be used to show the connection status of each surface.

I would second this, as we have over a dozen surfaces across a couple instances.

Being able to feedback or create email alerts if surfaces disconnect would be extremely useful for my team!
