  • How does shopbot connect to it's limit switches? Bonus: Are there any connection points near the stepper drivers?
  • Are they normally closed or normally open?
  • Do we need to feed them power via the card or is that taken care of already?

I have planned to feed the sensors 24V through our HRBL card. This kind of power distribution is already implemented in the fabricatable machines version HRBL shield.

The pin spacing on the shopbot connector is 5mm with 6 pins in a row. The last pin is not in use. So if we add a connector with 6 male pinsto our card it should be quite plug and play to connect the sensors. In this image we have disconnected the relevant plug.

I can not remember if the sensors are NC or NO. But isnt that easy to change in GRBL firmware anyway?

Do note that we need to retrofit a sensor for the Z axis so that we can have autohoming. I suggest we use the fabricatble machines standard type of sensor. This one also works on 24V.
