I will stop supporting and implementing Docker images starting in early 2019.

Repositories will be transferred to blacklabelops-legacy and archived for read only purpose.

The following repositories and images are affected:

January 2019

  • blacklabelops/crowd
  • blacklabelops/nginx
  • blacklabelops/bitbucket
  • blacklabelops/java
  • blacklabelops/letsencrypt
  • blacklabelops/postgres

March 2019

  • blacklabelops/baseimages
  • blacklabelops/confluence
  • blacklabelops/jira
  • blacklabelops/volumerize
  • blacklabelops/logrotate

but why?

Due to my career path. I am more involved in development than ops. I am not even involved with anything Docker related.

The images are state of the art but they cost maintenance time.

This had been fun but it's time to make place for something new.

I hope someone will take on their maintenance, the images are very useful

I have not done a feature comparison, but this is similar tool that works for simple use cases: https://github.com/loomchild/volume-backup

@phillipjohnson apparently loomchild/volume-backup backups are just tars, i.e. neither encrypted nor incremental

@blacklabelops While I totally understand your decision to stop maintaining this and other images, it's still a pity. For me as a newbie, the volumerize image is very helpful and I'm sure it makes the entry into the field easier.

Does someone know of any place where this project can be moved to keep it alive?

@blacklabelops Just adding my 2 cents...
First of all, thank you for maintaining this docker image, it has been extremely useful to me

Would it be possible to fork the project and maintain it under a different docker image?

Feel free to fork the project. Please write here, that you want to be an active maintainer and I can name your repository inside the readme.

@blacklabelops Could you consider moving the repository to the "Code Shelter" project? They offer to maintain popular projects. See https://www.codeshelter.co for details.

May I ask for the status on this? March is over now and the repository has not been moved. Are there plans to continue support or Code Shelter it?

Could @blacklabelops shed some light on this issue? We've passed March 2019 for some time, and the latest docker hub image is submitted 4 days ago. Does that mean you're still maintaining volumerize? Or is someone else maintaining it?

Not acitvely maintaining. The build is still running.

@motionbank are you officially taking over? I see your repo is the most active for it (but I can't log issues, ask questions).

Still deprecated, just updating for the lols and fun of it.

May I request that the readme be updated to reflect the deprecation?

@modem7 You could create a pull request.

Good shout. I keep forgetting that!
