This would allow the schematic files downloaded from the site to be used in Minetest mods directly without additional conversion.

Oops .we already exists as a download option. That's nice.

could be done in conjunction with #670 but you will lose param2-data (rotation, hw-coloring) metadata (inventory, signs, etc) and node-timers...
