NBIS Open Source Software Installation Guide

Step 1.
Run the following command to setup your build environment:
> ./setup.sh <FINAL INSTALLATION DIR> [--without-X11]
[--STDLIBS | --with-JASPER] [--32 | --64]
<FINAL INSTALLATION DIR> is replaced by the specific directory path
where you want to install the NBIS applications, libraries,
pre-computed runtime data and manuals.
Option Usage :
--without-X11 Build without X11 support
--STDLIBS Build without JASPER, OPENJPEG and PNG image
format support
--with-JASPER Build with Jasper. This will disable the OPENJPEG
image format support
--32 Build on 32bit architecture machine
--64 Build on 64bit architecture machine

Run the following command to setup your build environment for MSys MinGW on
WIN32 [or WIN64]:
> ./setup.sh <FINAL INSTALLATION DIR> --MSYS (--32 | --64) [--STDLIBS | --with-JASPER]
Step 2.
Run the following commands to build "NBIS":
> make config
> make it
> make install LIBNBIS=[yes|no]
> make catalog
Note: If you enable the "LIBNBIS=no" option during make install, it will create the following
libraries:
liban2k.a libclapck.a libfft.a libioutil.a libmindtct.a libnfseg.a libpcautil.a
libutil.a libbozorth3.a libf2c.a libihead.a libjpegb.a libmlp.a libopenjpeg.a
libpcax.a libwsq.a libcblas.a libfet.a libimage.a libjpegl.a libnfiq.a libpca.a
libpng.a libz.a
If you enable the "LIBNBIS=yes" option during make install, it will combine all the
libraries listed above and build libnbis.a.
Note: OPENJPEG requires libtiff to build.
Please be sure that you have libtiff installed in your system.
Note: If you build on Win 32-bit or Win 64-bit machine, please follow the instructions
below to setup your MSys and MinGW build and test environment:
- Win 32-bit build/run environment setup overview:
1) Download the MinGW auto installer and run it
a) at the Choose Package dialog, select 'current'
b) at Choose Components dialog, select any optional components
c) install into <ROOT_DRIVE> e.g. D:\
2) Download latest gcc-core archive files
a) extract into <ROOT_DRIVE>
b) overwrite all files during extraction from zip
3) Install MSYS
a) answer yes to run the post install process
b) answer yes that mingw is already installed
c) enter path as <ROOT_DRIVE>/mingw e.g. D:/mingw (use forward slash)
- Win 64-bit build/run environment setup overview:
1) Download archive file containing GCC version 4.4.5 20100513 (prerelease)
[svn/rev.159365 - mingw-w64/oz]
2) Install MinGW by extracting downloaded file into <ROOT_DRIVE> e.g. D:\
3) Change the extracted dir from 'mingw64' to 'mingw'
4) Install MSYS
a) answer yes to run the post install process
b) answer yes that mingw is already installed
c) enter path as <ROOT_DRIVE>/mingw e.g. D:/mingw (use forward slash)
- For both architectures, run setup.sh using <FINAL_INSTALLATION_DIR>
with the format of <DRIVE LETTER> followed by : (colon). For example,
./setup.sh d:/src/NBIS/... --MSYS (--32 | --64). (Refer to "Step 1.")
- NOTE: You must run setup.sh as described above. If you do not, then
there is no guarantee that all applications will build and/or run.
