(Chris here, but writing from my work account.)

In the Web interface, would you please add an OpenSearch static XML file and a corresponding <link rel/>? That way Firefox users could use Firefox's "Add search engine" function to add Elixir. I would suggest making the OpenSearch latest/A/ident/$whatever at first. Thanks for considering this request!

Considerations:

  • Against: the main issue with this proposal is that we are an exact matching search engine. So people using it would have to search the exact value they desire AND doing so without auto-completion.
  • Against: also, it must target a specific project and so isn't useful for other projects.
  • Against: no one pinged in the last four years.
  • For: it isn't a big thing to implement and maintain.

I am split.

Switching back from Chrome to Firefox, this is one of the missing features. I would only target the kernel, auto completion is usually not an issue as the use case tis when copy-pasting an exisiting symbol from the editor for example.
