If I close all tabs the focus is not on the search bar. I would suspect it to focus on it

You're on OSX right? I think this is a bug in the timing of the focus event.

Yupp on OSX, this also occurs when I open breach for the first time

I can confirm this bug on linux too, so it is not an Issue of OSX.
