Question about wine and scaling #280
Comments
Do you know which backend is used by Cage / wlroots in your case (DRM, Wayland, X11, etc.)? |
Well, I reteste it with the ubuntu repo cage and yeah, wayland works. Very interesting project for business stuff. I already recommended it. But for my usecase, it doesn't do what I need, scaling. If I try to run a 640x480 wine game with wine it crash. On gnome wayland at least it tries to scale it. |
Btw, I use arm linux. The project makes a lot of sense on arm linux, bc we have no resources to waste here. I use an emulator to run wine stuff |
@joggee-fr hey, I made a review to advertise your project. Also shared to other youtuber that may be interested on it. https://youtu.be/I5nopJwDGqg?si=rysUQbTOk_NrKXbb |
@neofeo, do you have at least Cage debug log for the case your Wine game crashes? |
Hi, I would have to compile wl-roots before compiling this project. I don't think ubuntu repo cage has any wayland support. Would like to know if that's the case. Primarily, I would like to know if cage allow an x11 app to decide and change the display resolution or if xwayland will try to upscale it to the display resolution. Would like to know how cage choose the display resolution too. So far I installed it from the repo and from tty tried to launch cage and a wine desktop of 1080p and it worked horribly, only drawing something in the corner but nothing functional.
While cage is experimental, would like a more descriptive wiki on how it's conplemebted with xwayland, how it's set the default resolution when lajnching a kiok instance and how it's managed an app trying to change the display resolution. Thanks
