Request for Guidance | Simulating UK Motorways |

Dear Carla Team and Carla Community,

Hope you are doing well. Thank you for your hard work in maintaining Carla. It's a really amazing effort. We want your guidance for an objective.

What we are trying:

Objective 1: We are trying to simulate Left-hand side drive motorways with 4 lane (with hard shoulder and without hard shoulder) (A simple 4 lane circular dual carriageway would work just fine ). Further, we are trying to add a gantry on it (with message displays that can represent X (lane closures), speed limit changes (50-70) and other messages displayed (such as Queue ahead) and others. Further, we are trying to create some scenarios whether traffic follows the above changes.

What we tried

1. We know that Left-hand drive is not supported in Carla and there were multiple issues raised about it

#4598, #5594, #5226, #4598, #3022, #1969, #1540 , #1404, #2381 (last two talks about a possible way via a RoutePlanner way and submitted a pull request #2442 )

We understand that currently Carla doesn't support Left hand drive and might do in future

2. Next as left hand drive is not possible, we are happy to experiment with right hand drive and was wondering, how we can utilize Town 6 map. Town 6 map has 4 straight roads joined. Is there a way somehow to change the map that we can either remove the inner two roads/slip roads or modify the map somehow to that the vehicles use only the outer ring road?

• We tried to experiment with the RoutePlanner but it is probably a bit complex to do it in such a way to change all the routes that vehicles only follow outer ring road.
• We also tried to use the Digital Twin, and import a section of motorway from OpenStreetMap but that crashed the UECarla.exe

Request for help

We would really appreciate if someone can guide us on how we can achieve our objectives and have a circular road or modify the Town 6. Unfortunately, we do not have RoadRunner license as of now. Otherwise, that might have been easier.
