Having reviewed the CT's updates to the website, and keeping in mind the conventions set out in our style guide, as well as to achieve consistency across the various website pages, please make the following changes to this page: https://carp-new-website.netlify.app/about-us/governance/

  • After the first paragraph, please insert as the main heading, "Advisory Committee".
  • Below that heading, please revise this sentence as follows: "Governance of The Carpentries (as a fiscally sponsored project of Community Initiatives) is undertaken by a three-person Advisory Committee."
  • Then make "Roles and Responsibilities of the Advisory Committee" a subheading, in the same font size as "Current Advisory Committee Members" and "Contacting the Advisory Committee."
  • The bulleted sentence lists under "Roles and Responsibilities of the Advisory Committee" must each end in a full stop.
  • Please change "Contacting the Advisory Committee" subheading to "Contact the Advisory Committee."
  • Immediately below the sentence "Contact the Advisory Committee by sending an email or by filling out this form", please insert a main heading "Board of Directors"
  • Then make "Roles and Responsibilities of the Board of Directors" into a subheading.
  • Once the above changes are applied the ToC on the sidebar should also change to now reflect "Advisory Committee" and "Board of Directors" as the main links:

  • In the "Roles and Responsibilities of the Board of Directors" section, please italicise Carpentries Clippings, and also please check that the links to it and to the blog are to the new site.
  • Please also replace "Yearly Summaries" with "Yearly Governance Reports".
  • Under the "Carpentries Board of Directors Standing Committees" section, please only hyperlink [The Carpentries’ Handbook], and replace "see" with "please refer to" to avoid ableist language.
  • Under the different Standing Committees, please put "Chair" in brackets after the person's name: e.g., Mark Crowe (Chair) and in normal font.
  • The section "Contacting the Board of Directors" must follow the section on Standing Committees. Moreover, it must be a subheading; currently it is rendered as a main heading.
  • The "Carpentries Bylaws and Policies" section must then follow as the next main heading, which it currently is. In that section, please hyperlink only the text I have placed in square brackets: "... we have several other policies that govern how we operate, including our [Privacy Policy], our [Instructor ’no-show’ policy and others]. Please also note to capitalise the "I" in Instructor.
  • Finally, please make the section "Past Governance Members" a main heading, and the final section.
  • All in all, the sidebar menu for this page should show: Advisory Committee, Board of Directors, Carpentries Bylaws and Policies, and Past Governance Members. These are what should be the main headings in this section.

@OscarSiba Most of the points in your issue have been addressed.
The point about styling the section on the standing committees will take some more work, so I am saving that for later. I have re-named this issue accordingly.

@maneesha maneesha changed the title Overall site review: "Governance" page Styling for Governance Standing Committees section Oct 14, 2024
@maneesha maneesha added the later label Oct 14, 2024
