What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a project with a JSON file.
2. Preview shows, but do not pick or select anything yet.
3. Click checkbox to "Load at most record(s) of data"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

"Updating Preview" overlay spins endlessly.  instead we should not update the 
preview until at least something is selected first.

This might also happen with XML importer or other importers that use the 
interactive record selector... dunno, check those also & fix with this same 
issue.
