Welcome to ChaloBEST

This is the repository of all documentation, notes and plans for our project, which began in January 2011 as a studio-based learning experiment at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) (http://www.hbcse.tifr.res.in) to make public and open transport data available over the web, SMS, smartphones, and in print using free and open source software, standards, and public databases.

ChaloBEST is made possible through the kind assistance of officials of BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking) (http://bestundertaking.com) .

Our work has been supported by Indian Institute of Human Settlements (IIHS) (http://iihs.co.in) as the first-prize winners in the Transform Urban India (http://transformurbanindia.com) competition held at the India Urban Conference 2011 (http://iuc2011.in) .

For an introduction to ChaloBEST in less than ten minutes, see our talk at IIHS Sankranti on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRosKYm5TZI) .
