understanding "keep awake when downloading" option #2
Comments
I just added a new FAQ. See number 5 |
If the "Keep Awake while Downloading a File" option is checked, the download icon appears whenever you download a file. It means the extension is keeping your system awake. If the extension is disabled, you will see a gray icon with a download icon inside. |
It seems that the first two are reversed? Shouldn't grey mean disabled and
brown mean enabled?
I tried to download something with the option enabled and I never get the
alternative state of the icon with the down arrow

If I enable the option while it is downloading, I do get the download icon. If it is disabled with the option checked but not currently downloading, the icon does not change when I start a download.

I found a bug in the download observer module. Please wait for the "0.2.2" release to observe the above behavior. |
|
works perfect now - thanks! |
could you please help me understand the option to keep wake when downloading?
I am assuming that the extension has to be enabled for it to detect a download? or should it be disabled and it enables when a download is detected? It seems that if I leave it enabled, it stays awake even after the download is completed - but I could be missing another process that is keeping it awake instead?
I was able to observe the download icon on the caffeine extension just once after enabling the extension WITHOUT the download option checked, and then checking the option before downloading a file. The second and subsequent times I downloaded a file with the extension enabled, however, I did not see the download icon on the extension so I am not sure if it just did not update the icon, or if it did not detect the download?
I did give it permission to manage downloads.
