Add some kind of "support hotline" or "bug report" feature to the client #161
Comments
I suggest setting up a website where users can chat without needing to log in. The website would be connected to your Discord server, and the Discord server would be linked with the Chillerbot. We could use the Chillerbot support Discord for this setup. For chillerbot, we could add a feature where pressing F6 in DDNet opens a console, similar to the F1 console in the game. This console could allow users to chat with Discord/the website and see older messages as well. what do you think? |
Yea a website would be easier to do. The client already has "open in browser buttons" so adding a new one for https://chat.zillyhuhn.com/ would be smooth. I just think it would be fun to have a in game input field that actually sends somewhere. Yea the F6 chat console is basically the built in irc client. That would be really cool but not sure if I find the motivation to actually do it. |
yea, a website is definitely easier to set up, and since the client already has "open in browser" buttons, adding one for https://chat.zillyhuhn.com/ should be smooth. I agree it would be cool to have an in-game input field that actually sends messages somewhere. As for the F6 chat console, it would be an awesome feature. I get that it might be a bit of a challenge to find the motivation to develop it, but it could be a great long-term project if you ever feel up for it. |
This client basically has no users lol. But also I do not have discord and am hard to reach sometimes. I want to give every user a voice. Possible ideas would be a live chat but thats trol because I will never be online. Another idea is a link to github issues. But nobody will bother to sign up on github. Some other clients before (I think ath) had a built in irc client. Seems like a lot of work but there could be some kind of channel thats shared with all users which could also be bridged to discord which I will be reading at least daily. Another idea is some input field in the client that posts to the api backend. Which just says "give feedback/report bug/request feature" and is a simple one way communication. And I will read those once a year when I inspect the database xd.
