What do folks think of recommending the use of duecredit as a way to ensure citations for all modules can be easily extracted in a standard manner?

It is pip-installable, but we would likely need to create a conda-forge feedstock since it doesn't yet exist in conda-forge.

A conda feedstock for duecredit would be nice. We use it for MDAnalysis https://docs.mdanalysis.org/stable/documentation_pages/references.html#citations-using-duecredit and it's a good way to tie citations to code.
