Form snippet for date: change date format

Hi!

One of the field of my schema is a date, and therefore uses the preset date. This way I can chose my date with the date picker. However, the date format is mm / dd / yyyy, which I want to change to dd / mm / yyyy. How can I do this? I suspect it has to do with the locale, but changing the locale does not help.
