it would be pretty awesome to be able to add a recipe without editing a config file. like maybe a recipe editor.

That would be cool but I fear this does not work with Jekyll, since it can only render static content.

What about a "propose recipe" button? A user could be guided through the creation of the .md file, add an image (maybe encoded as base64?) and maybe send that via mail or somehow else? I'm just brainstorming here, would like to have that feature, too.

There is an old PR #26 that provided a form you could submit which would make a new file _recipe/.md in your repo on github. I merged it into my fork and added support for component recipes but unfortunately the authentication method that was used is no longer supported by github. I've been looking into the new api to see if I can get it to work but I don't really know what I'm doing here... I really liked the feature because it allowed you to easily add recipes from your web browser, I'd like to get that working again with the new api.

Although this is not exactly what you may be after and I have only noticed the post some years later... here is one I found recently; https://recipes.saathoff.us/convert

I also made my own one before finding this, it isn't quite as good though.
