Import UIUC class schedule from Banner #192

There are 3 ways to do this technically. Shibboleth can include courses; it needs to be enabled. However we currently delegate authentication to CI Login so this may not be possible today. There are AITS reports e.g. LTI information from Canvas / LMS can also include course information. However we need permission to request and use this data. I've asked the Registrar for permission but this might take months to address. |
Can it come from Active Directory? |
The sticking point is not just technical; class enrollment is FERPA protected information. We need permission to be able to automatically request that information. |
Can the student give it? Just a one button thing "Sync class info with CT"
can do.
Or perhaps the instructors can provide it?

I've seen other UIUC websites get hold of my schedule like 125 or dres so I'm sure they're using some link to banner tied to my netid. This can be useful because the UI is a bit confusing at first and showing people the classes they're already signed up for pinned right away can make it smoother instead of starring every relevant class.
