Migrate off Node 18

Node v18 ended security support on 30th April 2025¹. We should migrate to the latest LTS supported version of Node. At time of writing that is v24, which is the 'current' version of Node at the moment, but will become the 'active LTS' in October 2025²

i was in the community a few months ago and our fork grew a lot but we managed to do this upgrade already. If you have some time we could maybe talk about or fork and try to get them back together? :)

@elaine-mattos When @henrysachs said you would try to publish your fork by Wednesday, I didn't realise that you were still working on the changes. Apologies, I didn't intend that to be a deadline.

If you're able to attend the meeting tomorrow we can chat more about it.

@JamieMagee no worries at all! We were working off a slightly older fork and ran into a few issues after updating to the latest master. All sorted now, and looking forward to the meeting!
