how do we get the thread_id from participant table?

how can we find thread_id with 2 user from the participant table if user id are given?

assuming user_id 1 and 2 i tried this query
select * from (
select count(*) as count, thread_id from participants where user_id in (1, 2) group by thread_id
) q where q.count = 2;
if count is 2 then its personal chat if count is less then 2 then its not a thread count more than 2 is a group
