On top of the current limitations with language codes (issues #50 and #47), it appears jquery-localize doesn’t handle language variant codes (see section 2.2.5 of BCP 47).

An example of such a language code is "ca-ES-valencia", meaning the variant of Catalan spoken in the region of Valencia, Spain.
