# Overview
The paper ([preprint](https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.25749681)) mentioned as part of this repository is the output of the undergraduate thesis by Ida Ayu Saskara Tranggana Suari (first author; Gede Primahadi Wijaya Rajeg [second author, associate supervisor]; I Nengah Sudipa [third author, main supervisor]). Tranggana Suari's work explored grammatical/morphological and semantic profiles of ANGRY/ANGER and MAD(DEN) based on data from the *Corpus of Contemporary American English* ([COCA](https://www.english-corpora.org/coca/)).

The thesis is one of the outcome from a number of [current and past students](https://github.com/complexico/anger-mad-coca?tab=readme-ov-file#related-undergraduate-student-projects) taking the English Lexicology and Lexicography course taught by Gede Primahadi Wijaya Rajeg, who also introduced COCA to the students.
### Contribution
- Ida Ayu Saskara Tranggana Suari
- conceptualise, design, and conduct the study and analyses
- retrieve and organise the relevant data from COCA
- perform semantic annotation on the collocate data
- write the full-draft of the manuscript
- Gede Primahadi W. Rajeg
- conceptualise the study
- created the [visualisations](https://github.com/complexico/anger-mad-coca/tree/main/figs) in R ([code file](https://github.com/cirhss/anger-mad-coca/blob/main/analyses.R))
- check the semantic annotation on the data
- edit the manuscript

## Related undergraduate student projects
The other and currently related undergraduate-student thesis-and-article project is by I Gede Semara Dharma Putra ([paper repository](https://github.com/gederajeg/verb-noun-association); [thesis dataset](https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.25560714)), who combined corpus-based data from COCA and preliminary experimental data to explore divergence/convergence in the verb-noun association (supervised by Gede Primahadi Wijaya Rajeg [main] and Ketut Santi Indriani [associate]).
Previous corpus-based works by undergraduate students supervised by Gede Primahadi Wijaya Rajeg include:
- Ariestiawati et al. (2023) ([data](https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.23640270); [paper](https://doi.org/10.59024/ijellacush.v1i2.135))
- Harta et al. (2023) ([paper](https://pbsi-upr.id/index.php/ijellacush/article/view/194))

The works of these students represent the pedagogical pre-cursors for the [*CompLexico*](https://www.cirhss.org/complexico/) (*Computer-assisted Lexicology and Lexicography*) research group, led by Gede Primahadi Wijaya Rajeg. *CompLexico* is part of the *Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on the Humanities and Social Sciences* ([CIRHSS](http://www.cirhss.org)) at the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University.
