Hi,

I am unable to start charging my car using the Zaptec integration in Home Assistant. While the sensors seem to work perfectly and provide accurate data, I cannot get the charging to begin.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Attempted to start charging by using "Authorize Charge" followed by "Resume Charge".
  2. Tried flipping the "Charging Switch" in Home Assistant.

Observed Behavior

  1. The charging does not start.
  2. The "Charging Switch" flips back to the off position after a second.
  3. Using my operator's app to start charging works, and the integration accurately reflects the charging status and sensor data in Home Assistant.

Expected Behavior

I expected the integration to successfully start charging the car when "Authorize Charge" or the "Charging Switch" is used.

Integration Details

  • Integration: Zaptec 0.7.2
  • Home Assistant Version: 2025.1.3
  • Charger Model: Zaptec Go

Additional Information

  • All sensors, including power and current draw, are working and updating correctly.
  • The integration detects when the operator's app starts charging, but it cannot start charging on its own.

Let me know if you need more details to debug this!

When the switch is flipped and then later is reverting back to the old value, this is commonly when the command is sent to Zaptec, but the action has no effect. You mention a "operator's app". What's that? Could there be something related to it? Are you able to log into Zaptec portal and start the charging from there?

Thanks for the response and for pointing me in a direction!

Yes, my operator uses its own app based on Spirii, and I can successfully start charging from there. However, I’m unable to start charging from the Zaptec portal—or at least, I haven’t been able to locate the buttons to do so.

Additionally, the Zaptec app doesn’t allow me to add my charge point, stating that it is already commissioned.

I’ve written a support request to the operator and am currently awaiting their response.

I have gotten an update from my operator.

They have since November apparently changed to using native mode, so they no longer allow me to control my charge point over the Zaptec portal.

Do you know if it still might be possible, i have some difficulty finding information about what native mode is.

I'm sorry, but I don't think its possible. The HA Zaptec integration use the public API interface which is the same as the Portal is using. So if it's not possible from the portal, I can't see how it might be possible from HA.
