The Fish-net experiments over on the https://github.com/Transmixr/VR2Gather fork show that the integration is feasible.

Creating an issue here so that we have an issue number and can create a branch when we're ready.

Created a branch vrtfishnet. No issue number, because this branch will probably be quite long-lived, so it's more like a separate production branch for the time being.
