[Mobile] Gesture alerts immediately disappear when swiping quickly

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create thought Foo.
2. Swipe slowly to create a New Thought gesture
3. Swipe quickly to create a New Thought gesture

Current Behavior

When swiping slowly (2), the New Thought notice appears and does not disappear until the correct timeout.

When swiping quickly (3), the New Thought notice appears and immediately disappears.

Expected Behavior

The New Thought notice should always remain until the correct timeout. It should not disappear immediately as in (3).
