No updates guys! I was planning to find some time during the weekend. I believe it is a problem connected to the kotlin version. I hope it will be enough to solve!

I was finally able to resolve this in AS by adding

-Dkotlin.script.classpath=/usr/local/lib/danger/danger-kotlin.jar

to the studio.vmoptions in ~/Library/Application Support/Google/AndroidStudio<version>/ directory

For IntelliJ Idea the vm options can be easier found through Help > Edit Custom VM Options.... This opens up the right file for the version you are using. Easier than to look around ~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains/IntelliJIdea* for the right version.

I also noticed that enabling the new "K2 mode" (under Settings > Language & Frameworks > Kotlin) breaks this, so keep it off if you can.

Also, if you don't want to or can't install Danger, but prefer to use the Docker image instead, you can also extract the JAR from there:

docker run --rm ghcr.io/danger/danger-kotlin:1.3.3 gzip --stdout /usr/local/lib/danger/danger-kotlin.jar | gunzip > danger-kotlin.jar
