Need add support for logs that stored in the AWS S3

Are AWS CodeBuild S3 logs will be stored in S3 only after the CodeBuild job will be finished? Or archive with logs will be updated for each logs portion update? I mean is it make sense to track the status of S3 logs like we are doing it for CloudWatch, or is it just enough to download the results log from S3?
