Couldn't tell if this already works with dask-gateway and if it doesn't any idea of how complicated it would be to add support?

Also how does this intersect with dask-labextension support?

It doesn't today, but it could very easily if someone wanted to implement it. It's probably a couple of hours work.

The plan is to replace some of the core of the labextension with this, however, there was a little concern around this being a dask-contrib project and having a dask core project depend on it.

This has been a backburner project for me and I haven't given it the time and attention that I want. If there are folks around who could use it, give feedback and generally help out then I could definitely justify spending more time here.

I assume that refactoring labextension on this will enable a better overall experience for folks. How much of a lift is that?

We might be able to help. I'll keep it on my radar and also see if we can get the gateway support working.

Shouldn't be much at all. The labextension is pretty lightweight. I cribbed some code out of there for the cluster factory code here, so it should just be a case of hooking things up to this implementation. The challenge has been an organisational one of where code lives and a prioritization one on my end, but that's solvable if there is demand for it.

We might be able to help.

If you have someone who could spare a few days to look at this I'd be happy to sync up and coordinate the effort and get them up to speed.
