· Using ACLED incident data, visualize whether there are more attacks occurred around oil fields (as identified by flaring NTL)

  • The controlling actor of the oil field, which include Russian military actors, Iranian militias, and the Katerji group,[1] may have a direct impact on the number of attacks
  • Conflict and agricultural productivity (see agriculture issue)
  • Conflict and tree losses (see tree loss issue)
  • Conflict and land use

[1] GoS and Russia granted Arfada company which belongs to Al Katirji an investment contract for the Taym and Ward oil wells in Deir Ezzor, each of which produces 2,500 barrels per day, for five years. The Russian forces gave the investment of the Taym and Ward oil fields in Deir Ezzor Governorate to the "Arfada" company in February 2021; Al Katerji and Arfada company’s sanctions:
