When a user for - whatever reason - does not succeed in login in, (s)he is immediately returned to ScienceData login/front page. Of course the user can deduce that the login attempt was unsuccessful, but I think it would be nice with a 'Ooops - something went wrong with your login - please try again' message.

If a login via WAYF or ORCID fails, it fails at the IdP and I don't think one is returned to our data service.
If you'ved not yet set a password or typed a wrong password, the following is shown: "Forgot your password? Reset it." That's ownCloud-7 behavior. Yes we should probably be less terse here.
If you've not yet attached an ORCID, nothing is displayed. We should definitely be informative here. All in due time. But thanks for the reminder.
